Welcome!
My name is Sara Martinez. I have been an educator for the past 17 years. I currently teach biology and chemistry at Heritage High School. I received my Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Mount St. Mary's University in 2002. I have a Master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. I just completed my Doctorate degree this year in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University. Prior to my career in education, I worked at the Institute of Genetic Medicine at USC with a focus on glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis and in the pharmaceutical industry. When I do have spare time I enjoy gardening, cooking, and traveling all over the world. My favorite places so far have been Italy, Argentina, Singapore, and Iceland. I was fortunate enough to be able to climb a glacier on my last trip to Iceland it was a scary but breathtakingly beautiful experience and I am looking forward to returning as soon as it is safe to travel again. I am looking forward to working with all of my students as we embark on this adventure of virtual learning, it will be a learning experience for all involved and I hope to make it enjoyable for all of my students.
I use Canvas as the learning management system for both biology and chemistry.
Please visit my web pages for class information in Canvas.
